Section 44
If a ballot box is damaged or vandalized
: (1) If a ballot box used for voting in a polling station is accidentally damaged or intentionally vandalized, the polling officer shall report the incident to the concerned election officer immediately.
(2) If a report as per sub-section (1) is received, or if the ballot box used for voting which has been handed over to the election officer is taken away in any way, if it is deliberately vandalized and damaged or if there is an accidental loss, the election officer shall immediately cancel the voting of such polling station and submit a report thereof to the Commission. .
(3) In accordance with sub-section (2), the election officer shall immediately publish a notice of the re-voting date and time at the polling station where voting has been canceled.
